ACADEMIC COURSES EPFL
Part of the academic program, Bachelor & Master electives around entrepreneurship are given, grouped in the College of Humanities.
NEW: In the new MOOC Find the Right Market for your Innovation, award-winning instructors Professor Marc Gruber and Dr Sharon Tal teach how to set a promising strategy by using a business tool called the Market Opportunity Navigator. It offers 3 steps to better identify, evaluate and focus on the right market opportunities. The MOOC begins from June 4th 2018 , enroll for free at go.epfl.ch/findyourmarkets.
NEW: CHIC Regrouping students from EPFL, ECAL and UNIL, this is an Interdisciplinary Minor (30 ECTS). During the program, students learn how to pitch, build their prototype and shape their business model. They also get the opportunity to fly to Hong Kong and Shenzhen to accelerate their prototyping and to be immersed in the world’s hardware capital
EXTRAORDINARY COURSES EPFL
Mintt Program: It provides EPFL PhD students with an accelerated training in invention management, assessment of the potential, intellectual property rights elaboration, license negotiation, start-up option evaluation and experience sharing in the fields of academic results industrialization and sales. It is organised by the EPFL Tech Transfer Office
SCIENCE2MARKET: Starting in February and September. It lasts 3months, 1 class/week. This training provides you with the practical tools to transform your idea into a strong business project. Get introduced to industry experts and meet other talents like yourself. This training is free of charge to anyone studying, working or recently graduated from a Swiss university. Please note that PhDs receive 4 credits for this course.
VENTURE LAB: It gives the Business Creation course. for startups in the field of advanced engineering and ICT startups. Basel for startups in MedTech Biotech. Five-day intensive course spread over several weeks, including three hours of one-on-one coaching. Starting end of March & August 2018 for ICT startups. And in August & October 2018 for advanced engineering. Applications needed.
VENTURE LAB: It also gives the Business Growth course for advanced engineering and ICT startups. Do you want to set your newly found company on course for growth? Five-day intensive course spread over several weeks, including three hours of one-on-one coaching. Starting in May & October 2018 for ICT startups and April & November 2018 for advanced engineering startups. Applications needed.
XGRANT: An EPFL VPI program reserved to EPFL Bachelor & Master students. The support is delivered through a financial support, accelerating camps & workshops.
YGRANT: As the sustainability-oriented sister of the XGrant, the YGrant program encourages and supports EPFL Bachelor and Master students’ social entrepreneurial drive.
ENABLE: Program from EPFL TTO. An internship program open to Master students or young graduates with different backgrounds (engineering, economics, marketing, design, etc.) enabling them to join innovation projects at EPFL labs or start-ups.
LA FORGE: Based in the building D of the EPFL Innovation Park, this co-working space can welcome you from 6 to 12 months.
There are several students associations at EPFL and UNIL with a focus on entrepreneurship:
INNOVATION FORUM The Lausanne branch organizes two main events: first, the Annual IFL conference the IMAGINE IF! Competition.
INNOVATION TIME Through its articles, the association wishes to interest Lausanne students in entrepreneurship, and to inform any young entrepreneurs.
SME The EPFL MTE students association.
OCTANIS A project begins with a suggestion from a member. This formal proposal can be a simple presentation or a prototype. If other members are convinced, ressources can be allocated and the project is given 18 months time to grow up.
START LAUSANNE It organizes an UNIL EPFL student startup contest. The winning team is awarded of CHF 30’000 and other benefits. Special awards of up to CHF 5’000 may be granted.
PRIX STRATEGIS It seeks to support promising start-up projects. “The Prix Strategis” grants CHF 50’000 to the best start-up in Switzerland

June 25th 2018. Final of the »venture» comeptition. To be won : a startup consulting package powered by McKinsey & Company, as well as total prize money of CHF 40’000, additional CHF 10’000 for the audience award for the winners of the business idea competition, and total prize money of CHF 120’000 for the winning business plans.

EVP is an exchange program between the universities, TUM, DTU, TU/e & EPFL. A unique program organized over 2 weeks, 1 in July and 1 in August for 5 student entrepreneurs of each university and that take place on all 4 campus. EVP supports students/entrepreneurs that have a project, wish to accelerate it. It comprises mix of thematic workshops, company visits, and public pitching competitions. It enables the startups to grow their business beyond borders.

A three day trip in September for 20 EPFL students only, who are interested in entrepreneurship &/or are developing their entrepreneurial project, startup.
